This is a list of products we use in the van or during the build.
Major Appliances
-
Nature's Head Composting Toilet
We’re all human. And we happen to be humans who sometimes wake up and don’t have time to find the nearest Cracker Barrel. Pooping in a 70 sq. foot home with no smells?? No brainer.
-
Isotherm Fridge
Food has to be stored somewhere. We both love cooking so we wanted to make sure we have enough storage for fresh produce and leftovers.
-
Maxxair Fan Deluxe
We have two in our van. Even on 90-degree days when we have one blowing in and the other out we can get cool in comfortable in our van. This is an ABSOLUTE necessity for us.
-
Furrion Oven Range
Not only does it look sleek, it lights up when you turn a burner on for safety. The temperature regulation on the burners are top notch and you can really get the heat dialed in for cooking. Plus it has an oven!
-
Espar B4L Gas Heater
This is the best heater money can buy. We opted to spend the extra money for peace of mind knowing that we wouldn’t have to deal with an extra fuel tank, altitude adjustments, or anything else. Cranks hot and is super efficient.
-
2.5 Gallon Hot Water Tank
Having hot water in a van is a definite luxury! We are glad to have this. Thanks to our beefy electrical system, we’re able to use this fairly frequently.
Installed Products
-
Scopema Swivel Seat
You might not think so but this swivel seat really opens up the van. It also gives us space to get away from each other when we need some alone time. We call it our “leave me alone zone.” This particular swivel seat is the lowest on the market, so adding it won’t raise the seat too high.
-
Kilmat Sound Deadener
Some people skip this step, but we had a noticeable difference after installation. Imagine kicking an empty can down the street. Now imagine wrapping that can in a sock and kicking it. You won’t regret it.
-
Dimmable Puck Lights
These lights are dimmable and make for a clean and professional look in your van. Beats having to use your headlamp and lantern or fumbling around in the dark. If you get these lights make sure to get dimmer switches.
-
CR Lawrence Bunk Windows
We installed two bunk windows on either side of the van so we get extra cross-breeze when using our ceiling fan above the bed.
Non Toxic Build Materials
-
Havelock Wool Insulation
Ruth’s temperature stays relatively consistent thanks to the Havelock wool insulation. Made of sheep’s wool, it made for a super simple installation. It’s also non-toxic!
-
Ecos Paint
Paint fumes can be toxic as hell. When we opened Ecos paint, there was a significant difference in how “smelly” our paint was. Although pricey, worth it in our opinion.
-
Butchers Block Stain
We used this butchers block stain after cleaning it up with mineral spirits. It gave our countertop a great vibrant color and it is food grade safe.
-
Butchers Block Conditioner
Butchers block needs some constant attention. We got this natural wax conditioner to revive it every few weeks!
